We are Needham residents advocating for more housing choice. We are building an open, informal coalition of Needham residents, groups, and organizations who are interested in advocating for more attainable housing choices in Needham.
We intend to be a community-driven resource for education and conversation about housing issues affecting our town, including initiatives such as the Needham Housing Authority’s Preservation and Redevelopment Initiative and the Massachusetts MBTA Communities multifamily zoning law. We have open meetings each month to which all are welcome.
NHC Working Groups
We have working groups, each of which meets to focus on a specific part of our work.
Here is information about our current working groups. If you are interested in joining us or in finding out more about how you can contribute to our work, please click here or email us.
- The MBTA Planning Group analyzed and responded to the MBTA Communities Act (MBTA-CA) planning process led by the appointed town group HONE (Housing Needham) which completed its work in May 2024. We have developed and continue to share visual materials to explain the zoning impacts and provide recommendations regarding refinements of the zoning parameters for the MBTA district.
- The Educational Materials Group develops materials that answer the community’s questions about housing initiatives in Needham and supports education and dialogue.
- The Housing Conversations Group paves the way for community dialogue by setting up small group meetings, led by NHC, with people from and around our town to discuss housing issues.
- The Campaigns Group reaches out to Town Meeting Members to inform them about housing-related warrant articles that will be considered at Town Meeting and encourages housing choice advocates to run for office.
- The Media & Technology Group manages the newsletter, Facebook, announcements (email, newsletter, Facebook, local news outlets), our developing website, and all things Google (Email, Calendar, Drive, Forms, Workspace, etc.).
